Wendell E. Berry (born August 5, 1934) is an American novelist, poet, environmental activist, cultural critic, and farmer. A prolific author, he has written many novels, short stories, poems, and essays. He is an elected member of the Fellowship of Southern Writers, a recipient of The National Humanities Medal, and the Jefferson Lecturer for 2012. He is also a 2013 Fellow of The American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Berry was named the recipient of the 2013 Richard C. Holbrooke Distinguished Achievement Award. On January 28, 2015, he became the first living writer to be inducted into the Kentucky Writers Hall of Fame.

His Poem, "The Beauty of Apples" was a Sow's Ear Review Poetry Contest Honorable Mention 1990.
In 2003, he toured the United States to read at various libraries, coffee houses, art centers and bars in San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Detroit, Philadelphia, New York City and Brockton, Massachusetts.
He has a new book coming out in 2018, "These Boys, These Men".

He began writing poetry at age 15 and has been teaching ESL for 20+ years in the United States and overseas. That experience helps him understand and work with Americans, Canadians, Europeans, Russians, Mexicans, the French, the British, Ukrainians and Asians. To summarize, he is a talented teaching professional and poet committed to instilling an appreciation for Poetry and English Literature in students and lovers of the arts.
